I have read pages and pages of complaints on this which is alarming as its being ignored and how do we know that the charging bug wont reverse and become a serious safety issue later on. I'm afraid to leave it unattended while plugged in. My battery is fairly new and the old one still works so I know the battery is not the issue. the laptop powers up just fine so the power pack works and yes its a dell pack. when i plug in the charge light comes on for about 2 minutes and goes out when the laptop is on it does the same. the indictor on the screen says its charging and its not. so plug in wait till the charg light go out and unplug and replug and wait till the charge light either goes out or stays on. I repeat untill it stays on. Its out of warrenty so im up a creek there which wouldn't matter as they wouldn't bother to fix it anyways. First hand knowlege is this same laptop has had cooling fan problems since the begining and one fan is completly dead and no fix was ever done for that. On a high note I do owe a big thank you to dell. several months ago I had decided maybe I would buy a new laptop. I went through the shopping process on this site and selected what i wanted in my new machine, and excitedly applyed for financing for my new laptop only to be turned down. and now im glad they did cause i would've quit using the old one and not known of this issue and next year when it would've happent to my over a $1000 new one would've broke I would've been out much more money and probably even more upset.
