I have a Latitude D600 and I'm interested in using the Smart Card reader for login/authentication purpose, but I have a couple questions abou tthis.

 

1. Is there a list of compatible smart cards, or a specific brand of smart card I should be buying?

2. Is additional software required to pull this off, or am I able to manage keys directly within XP?

3. How secure is this, really? Worth the time and effort?
