I have an inspiron 1100 and about a year ago, I found that my notebook had 2 sticks of 128mb of memory which I replaced

with 2 sticks of 256mb of memory, totalling 512 mb. The brands were micron and infineon.

 

Last week, my notebook frooze in the middle of a computer activity. I later found that the computer would not boot up. When

I remove the micron memory, the notebook work perfectly.

 

Does anyone know why this memory stick became defective after a year (I thought memory last forever) or is the slot that memory stick is in defective? I have no way in telling if my memory stick is defective but I know that when I took it out my computer started to work again.

 

by the way, I changed the cpu of my 1100 from a celeron to a pentium 4 and it was successful.
