Ideal resolution for E1705

I recently purchased a Dell's E1705 laptop. The default resolution is 1920x1200 and the font size is 96dpi which is too small for me to read. If I bump up the font size to 120 or 150% the images get all blurry. If I change the resolution to anything smaller, it does not take up the entire screen !

I am sure many of you would have encountered this issue. Any "ideal resolution" for this E1705 laptop ?

Thanks,
Kevin.

my suggestion is if a lower screen resolution is available to exchange your laptop for it.

uwga is really for those with perfect vision.

You must have a defective screen or video card.

My E1705 responds fine when I change the resolution. I run at 1600x(something) and it covers the whole screen.

Yup, running 137 dpi (I believe that is the actual DPI of the monitor) and it's crystal clear with no blur.

    The simplest answer:
"emerge ipw3945" - the ipw3945 drivers are now in the standard Gentoo tree, although I think they are marked as unstable and you may need to unmask them. Also, you may need to do some manual tweaking of your kernel source tree, you'll be presented with instructions on how to do that if you try to emerge the ipw3945 package without doing the required preinstallation steps.

This only works if you have an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 adapter. I can't help you if you bought any of the non-Intel options. Most of them are Broadcom-based which means you're likely out of luck.

I do have the intel you mentioned, we have the same configuration. So far the only distro I have gotten to work out of the box is Mandriva 2007 rc2.

    I will try your suggestion

    thanks
