One day my Inspiron 1100 was working fine until it switched to battery mode when the AC adapter was still connected, I unplugged it and plugged it back in again until it happened again. The battery power was near to the computer would hibernate. It stayed on battery power until it went into hibernation. I tried to unplug it and plug it back in again but the amber light was blinkedwhen the AC adapter was till pluged in. After a while I tried to press the power button when it was connected to the adapter, but then the amber light doesn't turn on any more. I also tried to see if it worked with the AC adapter plugged in, but with out the battery, but still no green or amber light. Is this problem caused by a dead battery then if it is I can get a new battery, or is it the motherboard that's causeing the problem. If I get it fixed will my saved files be still there and does not effect the hard drive? I also have a CD in the drive while it was going into hibernation.
