M5030 WILL NOT BOOT 7 Beeps

Question

Hi' my Dell M5030 decided this morning not to boot, but instead just beeps 7 times.  The laptop is out of warranty, but looking at previous posts this is a known fault. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks Nick

Hi nickghug,We apologize for the inconvenience caused, for your computer the Inspiron M5030 the 7 beep means it’s a Processor failure.Please try powering off the computer and Remove all external peripherals (Printer, USB drives, cables connected) and since nothing’s connected to the computer, press and hold power button for a minute and then restart your computer to identify the beep codes or it the computer boots fine. In case you still get the 7 beeps, please consider changing the Motherboard for your computer and as the computer’s out of warranty. Please contact the Out of Warranty repairs team on 1-800-288-4410 (US only) and do check with them.Let us know if this helps.

Remove the battery and unplug electric cord. Hold power button down for 5 seconds Re-install the battery and connect power cord. Start computer it will probable start. Called Dell and said it was the processor. They have been known for this problem. Dell wanted $269.00 to repair.(get a new one)  Another thing that seems to work is when beeping hold down the 'D' key and push power button down than restart. It may take 2 or 3 x's doing it this way. If it does boot up perform a back up on a cd.  If you have important info on your laptop. Hope this helps.
