mic doesn't work

Hi every one,

I'm using Dell inspiron 5537 laptop and I purchase form dell.com
my microphone doesn't work.My international warranty expire on 2016.
I'm in Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka softlogi is the dell authorized agent.

I have contacted our dell agent in sri lanka.

But they told there is two type of dell agent.direct agent and

Non direct agent.

And the softlogic is non direct agent.

So they do not repair it free.

They charge 5000+ VAT (LKR).

It's very unfair.I have my international warranty

Till next April/2016.

Then why have to pay for it.

Please can anyone help.

And also they asked for transfer the service tag to sri lanka(orginal tag is usa)

Is that necessary

is there any way to repair it free.

Thanks

I am sorry to read that you are having difficulties having the system repaired. If the notebook was purchased in the US and you will be spending any time in Sri Lanka.

You can find more on the process on ownership transfers here.

What troubleshooting have you done on the microphone? I am assuming that you are referring to an integrated microphone.  If you haven't already I suggest right clicking on the speaker icon on the taskbar and choose recording devices.

This should show you all the microphones that have been connected to the notebook.  Select the microphone that you want to use, if using the integrated microphone it will likely be listed as a Microphone array or Realtek ALC3223, or Realtek High Definition Audio. Once selected click the "Set as default" button near the bottom. Click the configure button and click the "Set up Microphone" link and follow the directions and it should configure the microphone and you should be able to tell really quickly if it is functioning or not.

    I hope that this helps.

    thnks for the reply.

yes my integrated microphone have the troubleshoot.I have already done the above step.I mean Set up default Microphone.but unfortunately it didn't work.once i did it it says "The computer did not hear you very clearly".
i think it might be hardware problem.
my question  is why they not repair it free because my lap have still 1 more year warranty.
and i like to know is there two kind of agent
    1)direct agent
    2)non direct agent
    Is that true???

please help me. i still believe in dell warranty.

    thanks.

If you are going to be staying in Sri Lanka for a prolonged period of time please fill out the transfer of ownership form.  I will be sending you a friend request so I can get some information regarding your notebook.

I'm planing to stay in Sri Lanka till end of this year.
If I transfer the ownership it effect to the next time I travel to another country ?
If some issue occurred in that country how may I recover the problems ?

    thanks.

Typically I only suggest using the transfer of ownership form if you moving from your current residence to another residence for a prolonged period of time. In this situation since you will be staying in Sri Lanka for the rest of the year you certainly should fill out the transfer of ownership form.

If you are just on holiday and plan on returning in a couple of weeks don't fill out the transfer of ownership form,  if you are traveling to a country that has Dell support centers contact the local center for help.

    Thanks for the kind reply.

I have fill out the transfer of ownership form as you suggested.
I've wait 7-10 days for confirmation.
Now I wan't to know is there such thing as direct agent and non direct agent for dell company.
and what is the difference between them.

    Thanks

I haven't heard of a "non direct agent".  The document discusses international service and the location of the global service centers. You will notice that Sri Lanka is unfortunately not listed, so you may have limited options for warranty support in your location.
