Does the charger power the laptop when the battery is removed? Does it charge the battery when the computer is off?
Could be a fault in the DC socket or charge circuitry on the laptop, possibly a short circuit. The DC socket attachment to the printed circuit board is, unfortunately, very fragile. The DC Power Board can be purchased for $20-30
The power board is probably fried and will have to be replaced. You can do it yourself if you are comfortable taking the laptop appart. If not, you will need to find a re;air shop to do it, or ;erhaps a 12 year old geek!!!
