USB Port Malfunction
I have a dell inspiron 15R running windows 8. It has 4 USB ports, two of which are 3.0 and the other two 2.0. One of the 3.0 ones has stopped working and no matter what I connect to the port, windows notifies me that the device has malfunctioned. I have tried everything I can with the device manager but cannot find out what driver I need. The other ports are all working fine. Kindly help.

If the system in in warranty, call Dell for a warranty repair. If not, and the failed port is on the I/O board (see below), that will need to be replaced.
If the port is one of the ones on the mainboard, you'll need a replacement system board.
Service manual is here

If one of the USB 3.0 ports is working but the the other is not, you have a hardware problem. What model system is it (need the four digit model number - 5721, 5337, etc. -- on the BIOS screen at bootup time, F2 at powerup).
