Choosing between a 1703FP or 1801FP
I just started a new job, and one of the things that I get to do is pick out a new monitor.
Given the budget I can use, I can spend around $500.
I'm debating between the 1703FP (which I gather is very popular) and the 1801FP.
The 1703FP has an availability of 3+ weeks, while the 1801FP ships the same day.
If those were the only two factors it would be an easy decision.
However, There is something else that is holding me up on making a decision. The 1801FP has a contrast ratio of 400:1, while the 1703FP has a contrast ratio of 600:1.
I have an Inspiron 8200 at home with a 15" Ultrasharp (which is 400:1), and it's pretty nice, so either choice wouldn't be a step down. But is the difference between 600:1 and 400:1 that big?
The bottom line I guess is, would you rather have a 18.1" monitor with 400:1 contrast ratio, or a 17" monitor with a 600:1 contrast ratio?
