Dell 2208WFP webcam driver problem
I have the Dell 2208 monitor and after installing the software, the webcam driver does not seem to want to load. I have an error that says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)."
I tried the recommended uninstall and reinstall, but same error. I also tried different USB ports, but same result. The computer is a Dell XPS 400 about 1.5 years old running Windows XP.

Thanks for the reply. There are 10 items without the monitor plugged in. After I plug it in I get three more, 2 generic USB hubs, and 1 that says USB composite device. As before, when I plug the USB cable in the system identifies the webcam, but then give me the error when loading the driver.896

This monitor supports High-Speed Certified USB 2.0 interface. Does the device manager say under Universal Serial Bus controllers, USB2 Enhanced Host Controller?

Yes it does, and all other USB peripherals work fine. It has keyboard, mouse, and wireless USB connections.896

Do you have XP Service Pack 2 loaded?

I am experiencing the same problem. 2208WFP monitor connected to ATI Radeon HD 2400 graphics card (HDMI) in a Dell Dimension E510.Under USB Controllers, I have USB2 Enhanced Host Controller listed (among others - see below).Interesting (and annoying) is that it has also prevented my other imaging devices working - the scanner on my all-in-one Epson, plus my digital camera when connected.896

Are you also running XP SP2? The monitor USB Uplink cable is connected to a USB port on the rear of the PC?

Hi Chris,Yes to both. XP SP2 Media Center edition. My Dimension E510 has 5 USB ports on the back. Have tried 2 different ones.Cheers,Ian622

* Disconnect the monitor USB uplink cable from the PC
* Open up the Device Manager- Universal Serial Bus Controllers
* Count how many items are listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers
* With both the PC and the monitor on, connect the monitor USB uplink cable to a USB port on the rear of the PC. Did any new items show up under Device Manager- Universal Serial Bus Controllers?
