1100 Cannot Recognize IP Address
Here are my specs:
Inspiron 1100
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
128 MB RAM
20 GB Hard Drive
LAN Connection
My laptop cannot connect to the Internet. I am under a network through my university. Suddenly about 8 months ago, my laptop cannot connect to the Internet. At first I didn't understand but later figured out that the computer cannot recognize the IP address that I am assigned to under my university's network. I talked to the network administrator and told me that it was something to do with my laptop and not so much the network.
I tried to repair the connection, enable and disable the connection but it still does not connect. Sometimes there is little or no connectivity when I make attempts to enable my LAN connection. I wanted to perform a system restore but it didn't go back to January 2005. I believe that my network card/hardware settings for my LAN connection have been corrupted. I have the Broadcam Advanced Control Suite; which manages my LAN connection. I don't know if that's corrupted or something to that extent.
I really don't want to reformat the computer but I think that's the only thing left to do. Is there anything else to do or have I ran out of options????
