I've been trying everything to get Windows XP on my M6600 laptop with no luck. What has me baffled is where to find the IDE setting in the BIOS. Dell has drivers for XP to run on M6600 so that tells me that it should work.
So I am able to start the process of installing XP as it goes through the copying of all the files from the disc without any issues. It's when it gets to the point where it actually tries to start XP and that is where it crashes with a blue screen. Hours of online searching for a solution always comes up with the same fix which is to change to IDE mode which I can not find.
If anybody has had success installing and using Windows XP on a Dell Precision M6600 laptop, I'm anxious to know how you did it.

Welcome to the Dell Community @kikikopa
Have you tried ATA?
RAID is default.
