Precision 7510 Intermittent Mouse Issues

About a year ago, I posted an extensive description of the TrackStick issues I was experiencing here: Precision 7510 Intermittent Mouse Issues

As described in that thread, I managed to fix the issue by removing the fingerprint reader ribbon cable.

Unfortunately, Dell seems to have locked the entire "Laptops General" section of the Dell Community, so it is no longer possible to reply to that thread.  However, I have continued to receive private messages from other users about this issue, some with additional information that might be helpful for anyone still experiencing this issue.  For example, one user reported that they were able to fix the issue by shielding the fingerprint reader cable instead of removing it:

I wrapped the long straight bit of the flat cable that passes over the touchpad electronics in aluminium, isolated the touchpad board with kapton tape, then made a small "wire" with aluminium that I attached to the rest of the foil and taped down on the largest ground pad on the touchpad PCB.

This has so far solved the issue for me, indicating that RF is indeed the issue.

I am opening this new thread to allow additional posts related to that old thread.

As before, feel free to send me a private message by clicking on my username, then clicking the "Send this user a private message" button in the "Contact Me" box on the right.
