I have several Dell Precision 7670 laptops that like sleep a little bit too much.

Brand spanking new and I am trying to install a proper OS on it. Ubuntu 22.

This is hard work because it is almost impossible to successfully use the Ubuntu installer without it going to sleep. Even when the computer keyboard and mouse are continuously used, the laptops will sleep.

A workaround is to use an external monitor. It will not prevent sleep completely but the laptop will be awake enough to finish installation in one or two attempts.

After installation, the laptops are only useful with an external monitor. To prevent the laptop from falling asleep continuously.

I also have an somewhat older 7540 which has similar troubles.

Is this is a known issue with regards to these Precision laptops? How do I fix this?
