first of all, here's my configuration:

 

dell inspiron 6400/1505

windows vista business 32 bit

dell photo aio 926 printer

dell 3300 wireless printer adapter

 

this is my first attempt at a wireless setup.  everything seems to be working correctly, except for the fact that i can't scan high resolution images over my wireless network.  i can't initiate a network scan using photoshop or the dell all-in-one center.  when i try to do that, i get the following message:

 

"you are currently connected to your dell photo aio printer 926 device on the network.  to scan, press the device's scan button and follow the directions."

 

when i try that, i do not get any advanced options, such as increasing the resolution to something better than the horrible 150 dpi default setting.  in order to do that, i have to plug the printer directly into my computer using the usb cable.

 

i chatted with a dell technician, and he said that there is a limitation (in the hardware or software, he wasn't sure) that prevents you from scanning at a high resolution over this type of network.  there MUST be a way around it.  a firmware update?  a registry edit?  a software upgrade?  if anyone else has this problem, or if anyone has any suggestions, please reply.  thanks in advance for your help.
