Retrieving SourceOne archive from leavers mailbox
Hi All,
Need some help, im new to SourceOne so apologies in advanced...
I have been told by the team that maintains SourceOne that the only way for a someone to retrieve archived mails from another users mailbox is for them to have Editor access to the Top of Information Store and all sub folders that the user wants to access.
This is fine when the target user is still working for us but when someone leaves, its company policy to grant only Reviewer access to leavers mailbox. (non-negotiable)
So currently we have to create another account in AD and copy/store the leavers mail to this account then grant Editor access to that account.
Questions:
- Is granting Editor access the only way to retrieve archived mails from another account?
- What process would/do you guys do when granting another user to retrieve archived mail form a leaver (our process seems long winded)

You used terms that are typical of Public Folders.
Are we talking about a mailbox or Public Folders?
I’m assuming we are talking about a mailbox for the information below.
Permissions are assigned at the time the information is archived, delegate access would have to be assigned to the account before the information is archived.
The only person that has access to the account without specific permission applied is an Administrator.
A way around this is to create another archive and give the designated person access to the new archive then copy the archived user information to this new archive.
You can re-archive a mailbox with new permissions but it would only apply to information that is still in Exchange.
