Working with an E510.

After a couple of years, started getting the missing hal.dll boot failure.  Googled and hacked at it but no go.  The only solution seemed to be to reformat but I have a bunch of files I had not yet backed up.

So I bought a new HDD (both old and new are Seagate Barracuda SATA drives) and reloaded Windows XP on it.  Working off of it right now.  My plan is to install the old original drive as a second drive and back up my files before I reformat it and make it a storage bin only.

The old drive, installed in the second bin, fails to appear in My Computer.  BIOS recognizes it just fine.  Disk Management (in Computer Management) also recognizes it and lists three partitions but does not give it a letter. 

Right clicking on the first partition only offers a "Help" menu pick.  Right clicking on the other two give me the full menu, but everything is grayed out except for "Delete Partition..." and "Help". 

Disk Management reports the following:

"Disk 1 - Basic - 149.01 GB - Online"

First Partition:  "55 MB FAT - Healthy (EISA Configuration)"

Second Partition:  "145.42 GB NTFS - Healthy (Active)"

Third Partition:  "3.54 GB FAT32 - Healthy (Unknown Partition)"

I downloaded the demo version of Seagate's FILE RECOVERY for Windows and it shows content in all three partitions with all my files safe and sound in the large (middle) one - but of course I can't recover them that way unless I pay up.

So how do I get this machine to recognize this HDD so I can transfer all my files without having to pay up for recovery software??
