Any help with my problem would be much appreciated.

I have a 2yr old Dell Inspiron 530s. For a while now it has not correctly read/use certain types of DVD. It does not recognise the fact that a DVD movie or a DVD game disc is in the drive. It will read and run files on data DVDs like my Windows installation disc or the Dell Diagnostics DVD.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit with all the latest patches (I upgraded from a Vista 32bit Home Premium that came with the system). My DVD drive is an Optiarc (Sony) half height SATA AD-7200S drive which I have updated the firmware to version 102A (from the Dell website). I have updated the BIOS to the latest version from the website (I think it is 1.1.18?).

I have run the Dell Diagnostics and it can find no problem with the drive, except if I put a movie DVD/game DVD  in the drive for the READ test it says the drive is either empty or the disc is not suitable.

Currently the only thing I can think of is the fact that I removed the Roxio Easy Media Creator that came free with the system after it said that it had expired (probably when the system was 1yr old). I don't seem to be able to find the disc to try and reinstall so that has me stuck.
