Quit looking!  It's working now!

I'd like to tell you exactly how I fixed it, but I don't know.  I was messing around with chip set drivers.  I installed an old one, and that didn't work, then I let the Dell support page find needed drivers, It found and installed the chip set driver, I rebooted, and it worked.  I'm sure I installed that driver hours earlier, but this time it looked different.  A couple of other windows with progress bars popped up.  I forgot what they were.  They had pictures of a p/c, and I think they said there were installing a device.  Sorry I can't be more helpful  for others with the camera problem.

As for easily getting back to the desktop from the start screen (set for full screen, but not tile mode) I found a web page with instructions on how to make a Show Desktop Tile.  It works.

Lastly, I found that the popup keyboard does not work in Firefox, but does work in other desktop programs including Chrome.

I was considering going back to Windows 8, but I think this is going to work.  My only gripe now is that it use to boot in about 10 seconds,.  It takes a little longer now.

Can't remember but think when you switch to tablet mode, I think there is something in the taskbar, near the clock, that allows you to switch back and forth quickly.

Rick, I can't find it, but if you right click on the taskbar, select Toolbars, and check desktop, it will put the word "Desktop" on the taskbar.  It doesn't seem to do anything though.  I completely happy with the "Show Desktop" tile I make for the Start screen.  Here is how you do it:

You can create a shortcut and pin it to Start or Taskbar.

1. Right-click in a folder or on the desktop, select New ---> Shortcut.
2. Type this for the target box:  

   %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{3080F90D-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257}

3. Save your new shortcut, right-click on it and select Pin to Start.

You make the shortcut on your desktop, then delete it when you are done.  You can name it anything you like, and change the icon before you pin it to the Startscreen.

BTW, regarding the Chipset driver.  I remembered something else that was different in my last installation than the attempts that did not fix the camera.  The last installation was automatic after the download.  With the previous ones (that didn't work), I saved the download, then clicked on the saved file.

I have seen people delete the problem device(camera) in the device manager, then restart the system and the new hardware wizard would reinstall the camera. I have also seen laptops that the camera came loose at the top of the screen near the webcam. This is the place most people open and close the laptop, so that is usually why the webcam comes loose there.
