Error Codes and Message Blocks

My computer crashed the other day.  It's brand new and there was nothing significant on it so I just started over and reinstalled everything.  When running Dell diagnostics I came back w/ the following error messages:

 

Error Code 0F00:0244

and

    The only GOOGLE reference I found for '0F00:0244' was returned by a bad sector on a 'harddrive'. Have you ran "CHKDSK" without any options just to see if any 'faults' turn up.

    The reference was: "Error Code: 0F00:0244 Uncorrectable data error or media is write protected.[...]"

    * Power on the computer, at the Dell splash screen press the Ctrl - Alt - D keys to initiate the hard disk drive diagnostic
    * The test may take up to three minutes to run the diagnostics (the time is dependent upon size and speed of drive)
    * What are the results?
