hijackthis please need help better one

I have winfixer2005 on my computer- and windows always pop up- its goin crazy with the pop ups because one i close it- they keep poppin up- well help me if u can thanx

your log indicates that you have TWO separate copies of HJT, with both running simultaneously!!

Please delete the first (Temp\Temporary) copy, and continue to use/run only the second copy.

for the installer: Run HJT. Place a check-mark in the box in front of the line:

I tried the Virtumundo yesterday- and the bluescreen popped up, but after I dowloaded it again just a few minutes ago- i ran the program and no bluescreen popped up. All that came up was a Notepad window with this written inside :

my "diagnosis" was based on the HJT log, as submitted... which showed the vundo/virtumundo trojan. there's no way i can anticipate changes you implement after you submit your log.

anyway, the VBG log shows that the trojan form of WInFIxer was successfully deactivated the first time you ran VBG (when you got the Blue Screen)... and therefore, it was not found when you tried running it the second time. (no damage was done either, in case you're wondering).

Please now follow my instructions above to remove the installer ( NI.UWFX5RS_0001_0808) version.

after you FIX CHECKED (on this O4 entry), REBOOT, then generate a brand new HiJackThis log, REPLY to this thread, and PASTE the HJT log here.

I was writing this reply, noting that the installer is still showing up, when i saw you made another post, saying you got an error when you checked FIX.   so i guess that means you posted the log before trying to fix the installer... yes???

I've seen that error, but am not familiar-enough with its implications...

did you try the fix in NORMAL mode? or SAFE mode?   to the best of my knowledge, this particular fix should work in NORMAL mode.

since i already typed this out, let me include it here, so you can try again:

since there were a lot of instructions above (covering 3 different matters), let me give you the directions again, with a bit more clarification, just to be sure what we're trying:

in Normal mode, start/run HJT.

click on DO A SYSTEM SCAN ONLY.

this will display a copy of your log, with an empty box in front of each line.

Place a check-mark in the box in front of the line:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWFX5RS_0001_0808] "C:\Documents and Settings\fresh prince\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\E5PYRQL8\WFXScanR[1].exe"

[If WinFixer is still there... i.e., if this particular O4-line still appears in your log after rebooting... then you should reboot your system into SAFE MODE (by tapping the F8-key during the boot-up process, and selecting SAFE MODE), and try this FIX again while running HJT in SAFE MODE; and then, reboot into NORMAL mode.]

When you're done, generate and post your a brand new HJT log, REPLYing to this thread.

After i clicked "fix" a window popped up which stated"

"Unexpected error occurred!

To answer your first question- I did post the log after i tried to "fix" the installer.

i then repeated your steps:- i tried "fixing" the line again in Normal mode and it was in the "Do sytem scan only" mode as well- which i had been doing. The same "erorr" window popped up.

I then used my Xoftspy free scan to see if Winfixer was still there- and it said it was- but i havnt recieved any pop ups in the last few minutes. So im not sure if its still on my computer or not?

but since the Xoftspy free scan still found winfixer on my computer- i decided to try what you said and rebooting the computer in safe mode- and try "fixing" the line on HJT once again. The same "error" window popped up again.

I then put my computer back into normal mode.

just wanted to be sure about things....

the O4 line is still there, so let's try another approach:

download RegSeeker from:

http://www.hoverdesk.net/dl/en/RegSeeker.zip

UnZip it ... it will create a folder a folder of its own (a RegSeeker folder) containing a bunch of files.

Restart your computer and boot into SAFE Mode...

if SAFE mode allows to you specify a user/login, then log-in with your usual login name.

Hopefully, you'll still be able to locate the RegSeeker folder in SAFE mode.

Go there, and open/run the RegSeeker program.

Click-on Find in Registry...

then place a check-mark in all of the HKEY options

and where it asks about search for , you should type in: NI.UWFX5RS_0001_0808

[if you can, just COPY it from here, and PASTE it into there]

and click on SEARCH.
When it finishes, click-on Select ALL... which expands into a small menu from which you need to again choose Select ALL (you should notice some changes in color, as the items found are highlighted).

right click on the highlighted selections and choose Delete Selected Items.

Reboot into regular mode, generate another HJT log, and hopefully, it should be gone this time. Please REPLY and post your this latest log.
