What is the maximum memory ram I can upgrade for my Dell Desktop Vostro 470? At this moment I have 4 Modules each 2GB per module in total 8GB and I wish to upgrade it to the maximum capacity.
Technically you can install up to 32 gb of ram according to Crucial but that would be overkill and a waste of money. Dell's recommendation might be lower. Check your manual. 8-16 gb should be plenty for everyday computing. If you need 32 gb, upgrade to a better desktop like the XPS.
It is a bit wasteful because the ram will likely be downclocked by Dell bios to default 1600 MHz. Dell bios does not support memory “over clock” in this model. OC meaning higher than chipset memory controller frequency.
Could you please advise me on the following question:
What is the memory ram brand name for Dell Vostro 470?
Do I have to buy 2 modules of memory ram of 8GB each?
Should I upgrade up to 32GB, Is it worse to invest and do this?
I wish to increase the memory ram of my Vostro 470. At this moment I have just 4 modules each 2GB in total I have now 8GB so I wish to increase the maximum memory ram for better performance.
I've replaced the power supply of my Dell Vostro 470 just to increase the performance.
I've installed a Corsair ATX Power Supply HX850i High-Performance. It's compatible with Vostro 470.
After I've installed the HX850i power supply I notice a better performance in response.
For gaming you do not need 32GB. 16GB is good enough. You would not see significant gaming performance boost if you upgrade from 16 to 32.
here are user validated 2x8 gb in 470, but a matched identical pair of major memory maker’s DDR3 1600 (pc3-12800) 8gb 240 pin ram for desktop should work. Hynix, Samsung, Crucial, Micron, etc.
It's 100% true that upgrading the memory ram for Vostro 470 is a waste of money.
I upgraded the memory ram for my Vostro 470, I added 20GB and I didn't notice any excellent performance even installing a new clean installation of Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.
I just wasted my money buying these memory ram 20GB.
I also tried 16GB but it's the same. I didn't see any change in my computer performance.
Upgrading the memory ram for Vostro 470 is just a waste of money, it's my real experience and I share it with your guys.
