Cant copy and paste
Was wondering if anyone in here can tell me how to fix the problem of not being able to copy and paste. This function worked till about 2 weeks ago. No idea why it stopped, but it sure would be nice to have it back again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Win x home sp2.

Ok. Glad to see that someone had a idea. But, this was already checked . Rechecked and applied. Still no copy and paste. Any other ideas?Dan Manley

Is this happening in all programs and, does keyboard shortcuts work?
Just out of curiosity, open the Clipboard Viewer and see if any contents are displayed. If they are, delete them and see if normal function is restored. I might mention that in XP, the Windows Clipboard Viewer is called the "Clipbook Viewer," and is no longer listed in the Programs Menu. To access conveniently:
Navigate to "C:\Windows\System32" folder and scroll down to locate a file named Clipbrd.exe. When located, right-click and choose "Send To | Desktop as a Shortcut.
When finished with it, you can either delete the shortcut or move it to your Start Menu or other conventient place for future use.

Checked out the clipboard and it is empty. And no it still does not work. This is really getting to be a pain not having this feature. Anyother ideas ?Dan Manley

If by chance, you are trying to copy text or images to insert into MS Word, the following Knowledge Base Article explains it. This is a very common occurence for those with Works Suite installed and the recommended "work-around" fix does work.

If it is lost in all applications, you might consider the information below which I have paraphrased from the author's site in the interest of brevity:
"Worms like MS-Blaster target a bug in svhost.exe. It sends a special packet. The packet has to be formed specially for 2K or XP and, if it sends the wrong one to your system, causes svhost to crash, which can force a reboot or make you lose copy/paste functionality. Svhost itself, though, is NOT a virus. A virus wouldn't announce itself with a nice error message stating its name."

Assuming the problem was created from a more or less "benign" condition, check the following:
Open Internet Explorer and go to: "Tools | Internet Options | Security Tab | Custom Level Button". Scroll down to the "Drag and drop or copy and paste files" entry and be sure the option is checked as enabled.
