I've never posted before, so don't hurt me with any big words. In an effort to prevent my son from burning CD's with stolen songs, I somehow denied him (and myself) any capability of saving anything to CD. I keep trying to change this so that I can back up files,etc..., but it says that I need an adminstrator to change this. I am an administrator, but can't figure the whole thing out. This is what I get for trying to outsmart a teenager! Are there any kind souls out there that can help me?
I'm trying to save picture files from my c drive to a cd-rw disc. Maybe I need to format or something? The cd drive can play cd's and also play games off cd. Thank you for being gentle with me.
What are you trying to do which results in the message telling you that you must be an administrator? I assume that nobody can burn to CD at present, but is that through using a software program or using Windows XP's CD burning wizard? Does the CD still work to read software and/or play music CDs?
That's the problem. It was over a year ago and I can't remember. I recall that as an administrator I was able to shut down my son's access to burning the CD's, but unfortunately, that's all I can come up with. I've since looked through to see how I could have done this, but I can't figure it out!
Open Windows Explorer. Right-click your CD-ROM drive and choose Properties. On the Recording tab check "Enable CD recording on this drive" if it is not already checked.
Umm. I guess I was missing some crucial steps there. Your little tutorial was awesome! I am humbled by my illiteracy and your helpfulness. Thank you so much.
