New Windows 11 25H2 install (using Microsoft Media Creation Tool so no OEM)

Downloaded Dell Command Update 5.7.2 to install

Install failed as NET Desktop Runtime 10 is not installed.

Downloaded NET Desktop Runtime 10 x64 installer from Microsoft.  That installed 10.0.12.

Rebooted

Attempted Install of DCU 5.7.2

Install failed as it did not detect Desktop Runtime 10 greater than 10.0.8

Installed NET Desktop Runtime 10 x86 to run side by side.  DCU install failed

Repaired NET Desktop Runtime 10 x86 and x64.  DCU install failed.

 

Is there something in the DCU installer when it checks for NET Desktop that is looking in a specific registry?

 

I noticed from another github script that looks for NET Desktop Runtime versions, that they are looking at registry

 

'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\dotnet\Setup\InstalledVersions\x64\sharedfx\Microsoft.WindowsDesktop.App'
   'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\dotnet\Setup\InstalledVersions\x64\sharedfx\Microsoft.WindowsDesktop.App'

 

However, on this PC (after installing NET Desktop Runtime 10) the registry Keys are actually

 

'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\dotnet\Setup\InstalledVersions\x64\sharedhost'

'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\dotnet\Setup\InstalledVersions\x64\sharedhost'
