Games do not work properly.

I received a Dell Dimension 4700 for Christmas.  Many of my Games do not work or do not work properly.

Simcoaster installed but I get an .exe error and game will not run

Myst installed computer locks up shortly after loading the game and I can go no further.

The Sims I have all of the expansion packs and when going from the neigborhood to downtown the house is superimposed on the screen so that you can not play in the downtown area.

Rollcage video freezes and unfreezes so that it is like playing frame by frame.

The only game that seems to run properly is Zoo Tycoon which of course is a Microsoft product.

I tried calling Dell support and they say it is a software issue and they can help if I pay for it which does not seem right for something that is less than 2 month old.

Is this a Dell problem or an XP problem

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Many older games will not run on XP. You should check the games web site for updates for XP. You can try Compatibility mode, but games might not run even then. For instance, Simcoaster is only for earlier versions of Windows. Look up Compatibility in Help for instructions. Zoo Tycoon is made for XP. Good excuse to buy new games!

You tried running Myst! That was stupid! That thing doesn't even run on a Windows 98, I don't even know what to do with that game. It freezes on everything.

Also, what video card are you using ?  Integrated or the PCI-Express card
