MAJOR PROBLEM!!! - RESPOND EMEDIATLY!!!

I dont know if this is wondows related, but windows DID something...

ok, so im playing Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, and i get a little message saying that someone has messaged me on MSN, so i click it, and the game minimizes, like normal. I reply, saying im busy, and then close the message area. Then i relize that the start bar has dissapeared. So i think "oh well, this has happened before" and i do CTRL + ALT + DELETE. It says that SWKotor is not responding, and i do end now, and it closes... but my start bar is still gone. So i click the WINDOWS key, and nothing happens. I do CTRL + ALT + DELTE, and got to Users -> i select me, and then LOG OF. The screen then goes black, and the monitor buttons glow orange, like the system is off. But me keyboard is still displaying the time, and all that. I re-start my system ,and it loads to windows, and the goes into the black screen. They keyboard is still working, because its glowing and the display is saying "LOGITECH"

i re-start the pc, and boot from SATA hard drive... same thing...

WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM!!!!

it seems very similar to when i got the new 93.71 driver (whateve rthe latest one is) from Nvidia. it takes forever to load.

I suggest you take this problem to the virus/spyware forum.  There are quite a few bugs spread by IM these days.  My immediate reaction to this would be to go to system restore and set the date back by a week or two, followed by a turning off of system restore, then turning it back on.  If all looked well at this point I would run virus an spyware checks.

    Good luck to you!

i think we have an issue with the nvidia drivers on the computer., this problem might occur if more than one instamce of display drivers running on then system ., go to safe mode by tapping the F8 key after the dell logo and and select safe mode and press enter twice ., u will enter the safe mode where we can revert the change ., start->run and type in msconfig and on the top click on 'startup' and select the option to 'disable all' and restart the computer this will fix the problem., or if u face the same problem go to the safe mode again and do the system restore to an earlier point when everything is working fine., tht will take care of the problemb .,
