McAfee Does Not Support Windows XP Media Center
In November I purchased a new Dell desktop that came pre-installed w/ McAfee. I created full-access and limited-access users on the machine. Since doing this I have experienced problems w/ McAfee software as documented in their service bulletin at
RecentlyI contacted them by chat, which is when they gave me the above mentioned URL. The solution didn't work. So I spent two hours working w/ Kevin T. After awhile he asked me what OS I'm using. The answer: Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2. Kevin's response: Oh, we don't support that.
I have also had contact w/ another McAfee customer service specialist who sent me the following response:
At this time McAfee does not support Windows Media Center and I am unsure as to why Dell sold you the software. I have sent an email to our most senior technicians concerning the status on when McAfee will begin supporting this operating system.
She later told me that support won't become available 'till at least the Fall of 2006.
Has anybody heard of any support Dell offers for this problem? Or whether they're leaning on McAfee to provide support sooner than q4-06?
