The product key should be on a sticker stuck to the back or side of the unit.

It has been at the base of all Dell laptops I have seen and the back orf all the desktops.

On many laptops, the Product Key sticker is on the inside of the battery compartment.

However, there is a Dell Recovery Partition on the hard drive, accessed by F8 at initial boot up, and the Dell recovery partition will allow you to restore the PC to the original factory condition and no discs or Product Keys are needed.
