I rebooted my Dimension 8200 and my desktop shortcuts never loaded.  Even when I try to create a shortcut for the applications, they don't show up either. 

 

At the time I lost the shortcuts, my cd-rom was acting up.  In the event viewer, I get an error message, error ID 7, with the description "The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block."  Then I get a warning, error ID 51, with the description, "An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation." 

 

Any ideas?
