My son's Dimension 2300 has developed a problem when attempting to start up. We see the Dell logo, then an error message saying "\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" file is missing or corrupt. I have managed to boot the system from the original XP disk. At this point do I attempt to replace the corrupt/missing file, or do I do a full system reinstall? How do I go about either of those options? I have little experience with Windows, so I apologize in advance for the novice questions. Thanks very much.
