I have an Inspiron 1501 that came with Vista. Not realizing what a disaster Vista was until after using it, I just reinstalled Windows XP Professional. All drivers are in place but after normal use for a while I'll get an error from ATI telling me that the display driver had to restart. A few minutes later, the screen will shut off and nothing will respond until I hold the power button to restart the laptop.

 

Some other people on other forums has this problem but offered no solution. Somebody said that it was actually heavy wifi/internet activity that caused the problem and that shutting off the wifi ceased the error. I haven't been able to verify that yet but it seems it might be true. Anyone have any ideas?
