win xp professional upgrade

I have a dim 8250 2.4g running win xp home.  I am considering upgrading from xp home to xp pro.  What are the benefits of doing this upgrade?  Win XP home came pre-loaded on my 8250.  Can I use the xp pro upgrade version or do I have to buy the pro full version.  I do not want to have to reload all of my programs in this process.  Please advise.

    A few questions:

    What do you want to do with Pro that you can not do with Home?

    If you decide to go with pro, it is always better to do a clean install (wipe the drive) and yes the upgrdae would work for you, however, the first question I asked is the most pressing.

    Yes you can use XP Pro Upgrade CD.
