My XPS 13 is the same. Just replying to an email may jump every few words to a different application or a different place in the text. Already set to lowest setting in the touchpad properties. Dell, please fix this. I use my old ThinkPad still 99% of the time for this single reason.
It is now late 2021, and this seems still to be a problem. I just bought a brand new XPS 13 9305. Even a very light touch on the touchpad to drag is often perceived as a left click, even with touchpad sensitivity set to low. If Microsoft won't provide a driver with a wider range of sensitivity levels, it would be really nice if Dell did.
Well, it is 2026 and I am having this issue with my xps 9350... it literally makes it unusable... can't move the cursor via the track pad without everything getting selected in the process.... i tried all the tricks, updated bios, changed settings... nothing is helping... sad part is it worked fine when i got the computer a few days ago and now it turned to complete garbage... can't do anything on it properly... you can send accidental emails, apps are being moved just because they are in the path of the cursor... what a time waste on a brand new computer... very frustrating
