8600 - DVD +R Drive - Upgrade Wanted
for a new DVD drive.
They've given me the option of a TD651-Kit - 8X DVD +/- RW Combo Drive
(8/4/8X DVD+RW / 24/16/24X CD-RW) for $221 but from what I can see it won't
write to -R once again.

Simple and silly question, but not apparently easy answer to find - new
Dell has DVD R+/R- drive. I presume that means that either DVD+R or DVD-R disks
can be used.
A) is that correct?
B) Under what circumstances would I want to use DVD+R versus DVD-R

Inspiron 8200 having problems reading DVD-R
on my Pioneer DVD player, it plays back on the JVC, and on my Dell
desktop (8200) using Real's DVD software (PCFriendly). The notebook will
recognize the DVD-R, but won't play it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I want to archive several hundred digital pictures on DVD. I want to use the
new gold DVD that has just come out. The only format I can find is DVD-R. I
have a DVD+R. Can I use a DVD-R with my DVD+R? Any help will be appreciated.

Downloading H&R Block software ordered from Dell
I ordered H&R Block Tax software, and it says it should be
available within 8 hours. It has been over 24 hours and I still am not able to

DVD-R vs DVD+R
I've got an Inspiron 8600 and I'm trying to burn a DVD using Sonic
RecordNow (which came with the computer). The DVD Module has a dell label -
DVD+RW. The software doesn't seem to recognize DVD-R disks, only DVD+R. Am I
doing something wrong, or is this a hardware or software limitation?

i have a CD/DVD+R burner..does this mean if i try to use a blank DVD-R
it wont work..waht i mean to say is do they make DVD+R disks?the problem i have
