Scaling laptop to TV

Question

I'm trying to connect my laptop's display to my TV with an HDMI adapter, but the only problem is that the edges of the display are cut off. I've tried tinkering with my TV's screen settings and whatnot but with no luck. Is there anything I can do on my laptop to fix this, maybe by adjusting the width and the height?

You didn't specify what laptop you're using, but if it's like most laptops where the Intel GPU controls the display outputs, open Intel Graphics Control Panel (or Graphics Command Center, on some systems) and see if there's an option to enable 'underscan'.  Some TVs always add a bit of 'overscan'.  It's holdover behavior from a time when some signals had some noise on the borders of the display signal and/or didn't fill the entire pixel area, so overscan masked those problems -- but when receiving a proper signal, it chops off the borders as you're seeing.  On many TVs there's an option to have the TV map the image pixel for pixel, at least when you're sending a signal that matches the native resolution of the TV itself (1080p or 4K these days, depending on the TV), but some TVs don't offer that option at all.
