Jackplug not recognised

I removed my external speaker for half a day and then replaced it to find no sound. Sound only issues from the internal speaker.  The Troubleshooting message says 'speaker is unplugged'. I have checked the speaker and lead on other devices and there is no problem. All the sound jacksockets give the same message.

The computer is an Inspiron 3668.

I'd appreciate suggestions of a way forward. Many thanks.

Sounds come from external speakers, not the system internal speakers. Buy inexpensive speakers for about $10- $15 and attach to the light green port at the top of the computer back. See pg 12 in manual --

    Thanks redxps630,

I tried this about 5 or 6 times today. Tried again after your suggestion and now it works. Brilliant.
