On/Off button doesn’t work.

I own a Inspiron 5758 laptop.

The on/off button won’t turn on my computer. I’ve check the power, the power cords and the battery to make sure the laptop is working otherwise.  The button itself seems to have depressed itself into the laptop, and won’t turn the laptop on.

What can I do, and what do I need to do to fix it?

    Hi Madness Of March,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

If you are unable to gently pry the button out with a plastic stylus or other soft plastic object, then you may need to remove the palm rest.

Here is a short video from the internet on how to do that:

If further assistance is needed, please send me a Private Message and provide your system service tag number
as well as your name, address, phone number, and email address.  Thanks.

How do I fix the stuck on-off button after removing the touchpad palmrest?

    nbj2746,

Were you able to view the video in the previous post?  If so, then the same company may have the part available and you can replace it.

If the system is under warranty, please contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service call -http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Mine does the same thing. What's disappointing is that I paid $800 for it and only owned it 3-1/2 years. So convenient shortly after the warranty expires it goes out.  RIPOFF#SCAM!@
