OS Recovery/Reset failure
I have a sick 7610 Inspiron and I attempted to do an OS Recovery.Reset. I got there from Start-F12. After a lengthy download of the necessary files, the Reset began. It ran for about two hours and then gave me this message:
We are missing some of your system details needed to finish the restore. We are aware and working to fix the issue. You can try again later or please go to https://www,dell.com/support/osrcovery for immediate suppport.
I went to that URL and after entering my service tag I was invited to download the recovery image (which I think I already had). When I attempted the download, I got the message "Recovery image unavailable".
I've already tried, unsuccessfully, to reload Windows 10/11. That's a whole other sad tale: the reload does not give me the correct initial screen, where I'm supposed to choose the destination partition. Instead it skips ahead to verifying the language and commencing Setup. Setup soon dies for the lack of a needed driver. I've been down that path several times, and no one seems to understand why it commences Setup without pausing to determine the target partition - or even believe that can happen.
Help!!!
