Tried all except for resetting as I don't want to go through the hassle of reloading all my apps etc but if you really think that will speed up my boot time then I might give it a try. Thanks

You really cannot compare a 7 year old computer with today's loaded computers. 34 seconds is average bootup time nowadays with all the software on computers now. Check the Startup tab in Task Manager. Most everything there does not need to load at boot.

If you really had a Windows 11 computer (I know it's a typo in your post) who knows what's normal boot time?

I agree with @Mary G . Your new system could have loads of bloatware loading at startup. In Task Manager you can disable most of the programs that load and you can see the Startup impact. For example Winzip, Spotify, Skype, any printer/scanner program does not need to load. Those programs will load when you access them. Also most Dell programs fall into that same category. That is one reason when I get a new system from any manufacturer, the first thing I do is a clean install to get rid of the bloatware.

Hi Mary, no typo. I'm running Windows 11 beta version. You could as well if you google it and find the download as a "Windows insider". It's actually very good - try it. By the way I have everything in start up disabled and the typical boot up time is supposed to be around 10 to 15 seconds. Start up shows my bios boot time as 8.3 seconds whereas on my older Dell its 1.5 !!!!!!!!!

It's normal after Windows updates.
I installed Linux (Mint) on an old laptop (12yo) just becuase the startup time and it's down to 12sec.

My current laptop (5593) takes about 30+ sec, so it's about right
