Charging problem
Hi
I have a dell laptop (Latitude E5530) I bought last year. It's been charging on and off repeatedly. 3 secs charging, then stops charging, continuously in a loop. I tried to charge it overnight (in sleep mode) but the result is that it only has 90% charge at most.
I can't use it also if the battery is removed (direct connection to power source) due to continuous on and off charging. Everytime the laptop is not charging, the laptop just suddenly turns off.
Also, during charging, the laptop and mouse cursor is slow but regains speed when in battery only.
As for the charger, I am using the one with adapter model FA90PE1-00. The blue light at the end of the cord near the computer port don't flicker when connected to a power source so I think the charger is not the problem.
What should I do to fix this problem? It greatly hampers my conferencing because of cursor/computer lags during charging and difficulty in getting it full charged.

Hi Jan,
You can even flash the BIOS now from the boot menu. Follow the steps from the link below:
Keep an USB Drive ready with the BIOS file copied in it.

I downloaded the bios update but it won't install
The AC adapter and battery must be plugged in before the system bios can be flashed
But both my adapter and battery are connected already.
Maybe because charging is flickering (charges for 3 secs then it will run on battery then charges again for 3 secs then run on battery in a loop)

Hi Jan,
You may try the below steps:
1. Power off your laptop
2. Unplug the charging cable and any peripherals if connected.
3. Remove the battery from the laptop.
4. Now with the battery removed, press and hold the power button of the laptop for 30 to 40 seconds.
5. Plug the battery in and power up the machine.
If you still have issues with the battery then please update the BIOS to the latest version.

NOTE : make sure your charger is connected to the laptop and powered on during BIOS update and do not power off the machine during BIOS update.

Yes but no luck so i tried the bios download for battery but still no luck

There are no bios flash update in the menu

Upon trying the verifying ac adapter functionality, it flickers from this photo
To this
And sometimes, not installed is changed to unknown and charging changes to idle.
These photos are repeated in a loop.
Upon checking the bios events, here is the result
What do I do now? Should I continue on the battery troubleshooting page or try ac charger troubleshooting page?
