My Latitide E5440 was working perfectly well, when suddenly the wifi would not work. I updated drivers including BIOS update. But the system does not detect WiFi Card. BIOS does not have any record and displays {none} for Wifi.
The system is equipped with following wireless devices:
WLAN: Intel Dual Band Wirelerss-AC 7260; Model: 7260HMW
Well, after many efforts by enabling/disabling connections in BIOS, I finally managed to get it resolved it.
I first uninstalled my WWAN broadband driver and then removed the modem (hardware). Now when I switched on the laptop, it recognized my wifi WLAN in BIOS. I booted and Windows 7 auto installed appropriated drivers.
I shut down the system, connected back the broadband modem, and the system identified it correctly. I installed the WWAN driver and now both WLAN and WWAN are functioning correctly.
