Hi

My Latitude E7240 is refusing to POST I think. Not entirely sure if its a POST issue, but reading up on the issue seems to indicate it is.

When I turn the power on, the power LED comes on and stays on. The HDD led keeps blinking. No other activity at all. The screen doesn't come on, no sounds that I can hear from the laptop and none of the other lights (Caps lock, wifi, power) come on.  

I have tried taking the battery out and power cord out and pressing the power button for more than 30 seconds, and then restarting. That has no effect on the problem. I have tried this with just the AC power, and just the battery power. No luck. 

Any ideas what could have gone wrong and what else can I do? Even if the computer cannot be saved, I would like at least to be able to retrieve the files from the hard drive. The laptop is 7 years old and hence out of warranty.

Would be grateful for any suggestions.
