I saw, 28  people has viewed this post, and nobody left a suggestion, is it so easy to install it that I don't need to be worried about?

I will not install on my Inspiron, sorry i didn´t mentioned. It just the Inspiron is the one I use for the job, and needs to be XP/VISTA. And the HDD is only 80Gb and cannot have dual boot.

 

I´ll install on a E520 with dual boot maybeor just Ubuntu. It´s a Dual 2.66GHz,2Gb RAM,256 nVidia. 160Gb HDD, 200Gb HDD.

 

Any other recomendation to install it on this...

 

 

If you might want to dual boot, decide now.  All dual boot howtos highly recommend that you install windows first (unless you are an alpha geek who really knows what they are doing).  Then install Ubuntu.  I would recommend keeping the windows boot loader instead of overwriting with grub.  This way you can easily remove linux if you decide you don't want it.  Here is one link, of many, on how to boot linux with the the windows boot loader.  Just make sure you don't use the default option of writing grub to the Master Boot Record (MBR).  If you decide to keep linux and remove windows later on, grub is easily installed in the MBR instead of the windows boot loader.

Having never used Ubuntu I can't say what device support issues you might have.  The use of a Live-CD to check it out first was a good suggestion.

I want to dual boot my inspiron 6400 to xp and ubuntu 64 bit

my device are:

intel core 2 cpu

t7400 @ 2.16 Ghz

2 gig ram

120 hdd

 

should I do it or not

 

or

 

should I just install ubuntu

 

and If I do so I have to find all the programs for linux base, I can not use windows installers right???
