Alienware 17R3 Crashes
three days ago since i got my 17R3, I could do nothing but suffer from crashes, which were mostly caused by INTEL DPTF together with DELL Softwares(bad_pool_header),
and sometimes by other things (our dear intel didn't find something he wants......and he got mad).
simple way: never use DELL Assist again, just uninstall it.
But it's neither a solution, nor answer.
I don't know and don't even want to know which commercial agreements were between Dell and Intel. The Result was just terrible.
it costs over 2000 euros (i live in Germany)
now i'm considering to get my money back.

no, bad_pool_header, always. And Intel DPTF told me cnstantly that he didn't find something.
i just read same complaints about your new 17R3
Recently i just find that the Configuration (i7-6700HQ+GTX 980M 8G+Intel Wireless Card) is no longer available due to compatibility alert.
My 17R3 has the same Configuration, and it crashes.
I have written Emails to your Service in Germany, both Tech and Consumer.
no one replys me.
I just send the RETURN-Form, hope can get my money back
HKM1024,
It pains me to say this, but good for you. I've been attempting to work with Dell (via this area), Intel (I've posted Win10 Event Log errors regarding their Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework), and more recently SupportAssist maker PC DOCTOR (who, by the way, seems a bit more genuine at the moment in resolving the issue). Literally, I've poured over 75+hrs into attempting to resolve this #$#$ nightmare - in an effort to save myself the trouble of sending my Alienware 17 R3 back to newegg for a full refund. While it's unfortunate no other laptop shares the exact same specs as the Alienware 17 R3, I'm about ready to trade this-could-be-great-Alienware for 1 of the following and be done w/ this b/s:ASUS ROG G752VY-DH72 Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 32 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 4 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
MSI GT72S Dominator Pro G-219 Gaming Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i7 6820HK (2.70 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 128 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 8 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

I've been following your posts about the Support Assist issues, and while I understand that this might be frustrating, and isn't acceptable in any laptop, I just do not understand how, in the scheme of things, it is a big deal.
You (and others) experience issues when you try to run a single Dell supplied application, with a certain combination of drivers. (Wow, I should be so lucky...)
Why not just avoid running the application until Dell fixes it? Which they (or PC Doctor, more likely) almost certainly will.
There have been far, far worse issues at launch with these laptops (and I've experienced most of them) that Dell and Intel and the other vendors have generally fixed, although some issues still remain. I'm not saying it is in any way acceptable, but it is what it is, and remember we are lucky - these are first world problems.
I would actually prefer the problem you have (so I could just not run Support Assist) instead of the totally random freezes and hangs that I've experienced from new, with no fix in sight.
And the alternatives? Meh.
I looked at those, and there were pretty good reasons to go with the 17r3; and in hindsight it is likely that other skylake based products would have the exact same issues that we've had - it is just that by the time you get a new system, their launch issues will be fixed and you'll attribute that to a superior product from those other manufacturers, which may not actually be the case.
I've had to deal with Asus support down here (a DOA laptop) and their support is so far behind Dell's (who I have also used) that it is laughable. I would doubt that MSI is going to be better.
I guess those systems won't come with Support Assist, so at least that problem goes away.
I think that essentially, the 17r3 is solid, with some good decisions and some bad ones, and has been let down by the concurrent release of Skylake and Windows 10, combined with slow responses and poor software support from Dell.
And given that the hardware is probably good, in my view it makes sense to stick with it and wait for the software to improve. I'll probably have a different view if this goes on for much longer, but things have been worse, the trend is in the right direction.
And my Configuration is now no longer available due to Compatibility Alert
you can check it by dell,
it tells you that i7-6700HQ of this model of alienware 17R3 E-Value Code:N00AW17R310 now can only go with GTX970M. But my 17R3 is with GTX980M and it is the 17R3 with E-Value Code:N00AW17R310.
Tech Support in EU just replied me, and told me to get rid of Dell Support Assist and do ePSA Diagnose again. And my Configuration is now no longer available due to Compatibility Alert

Hi,
Do these crashes happen randomly? What is the blue screen error code or message that you receive?
