- If your printer is an HP, there is a known lockup problem with changing printer properties before actually printing anything. HP newest driver (10.3?) will fix the lockup problem. They also speed printing up to 1.5x faster! You can start here:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/jsnav/prhome.html
and choose your printer from the list.
Good Luck!
leonhmh - Yes get rid of McAfee & Norton they are probably causing the problems go to their site and look at their help page like this one. You'll probably see lots of the same things. And they get no help from McAfee or Norton. Of course this is my opinion I may be wrong.

cbbc5@dellmail.com - Hi David,
Dell tech has assisted me in cleaning out additional files. The freezing had accured even without the print mode be activated. It has not happened since the clean up. The system was at 75%before the clean up and is now up to 97%. So I guess that was needed.
However, I did a HP update as suggested by another person. I then found mutiple icons on "My Documents" that seem to be from the download upgrade. I trashed the icons. Can you tell me what that was all about. Do I still have the upgrade? Did I download it into the wrong file?
Thanks.
Bruce F - It's fairly likely that you extracted some compressed file to that folder. You may be able to determine the version of the software you currently have loaded fairly easily. Many HP printers use some form of control panel. If your's does, open the software, and choose HELP | ABOUT. It should list a version number.
- TL,
I don't know. McAfee is very good at not letting you know how to get free upgrades. Free? I don't think so. Get it fixed? Doubt it. Contact one of their tech's? Ya, If there are any. I got Norton Systemworks 4.0 with my Dell I told them not to install it. It still sits in the closet & will stay there until someone wants to trade something then I'll through it in to make a deal look better. I figure I didn't lose any money on it cause I never installed it. My Dell works great so I saved money. I use Inoculate It 5.0 as my Anti-virus program. Never even know it's there it has free upgrades for life. Never jams. It's great. Norton & McAfee froze my Comcrap all the time. None of these programs will ever see the inside of my Dell. The best thing to do is get rid of this Commercial junk & that's all these McAfee,Norton, nsi are Junk. Computer Companies give them as a gift so you think your getting a deal. You must buy from McAfee or Norton when it's time for that upgrade. That's what they expect cause they made their money selling the program to Dell or any other Computer Co, Then they get you on the upgrades $$$$. I'd delete it and get it out of my system altogether then the freezing will stop. Get someone to help you get it out of your Dell. Have them go all the way into the Registery to get McAfee out cause they bury themselves so far into your system it will mess with you forever unless they have a uninstall which I doubt. Then put a simple but great Anti-Virus program that works on your Computer not you$$$$ Know what I mean? McAfee,Norton. They don't help you. They sell to you then it's by by. No help, No tech's, No nothing. Good luck.
This is my opinion I could be wrong I don't know.

If you continue to have difficulty, please post the make and model of your printer.
