What I am looking for is not how to change the resolution, but how to add a resolution (1920*1080) to the resolution list. The best resolution I have for the moment is 1400*1050.

Perhaps installing a video driver, but I don't know which one.

I would request you to check if there are any exclamation marks in “device manager” under display adapters.

Steps to navigate to device manager:

1. Click “start”.
2. Type “Device Manager” in the search box.
3. Select “Device Manager “in the list.
4. Click the display adapters.

Use this link: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/optiplex-gx280 and select video and select the right video drivers as shown under display adapter in device manager and install it from the above link.

Please check post the results.

I had already seen this page, and I had already installed the drivers found in this page. 
I still have a 1400x1050 resolution.

I have two strange things :
- I have the graphic card displayed both in the device manager list (I don't know why...)
- I tried to uninstall both (so I have 2 unknown devices in the device list) and after uninstalling, I can have a 1600xsomething resolution... So better than with the driver installed...

Do you have any idea... ?

An other information I forgot :

In the display parameters, I have 2 screen shown (although I have only one screen pluged in the computer...). The main screen can only have a 1400*1050 resolution, but the other can go until 1920*1200... But I can't change the screen, the one selected still have a 1400*1050 resolution max...

It could be a problem with the graphics card in the computer or the monitor which is not supporting 1920*1080 resolutions.

• • Model of the Monitor which is causing the problem.
  • Service tag of the computer?
  • Connection type (VGA/DVI/HDMI)?

Hi ,

The service tag number is a 7 digit alpha numeric number ending with number 1.

The Service Tag can be physically located in two places on the chassis. The first is on the top of the chassis towards the front.

The second location is on the bottom of the chassis at the back.

If it looks like this you lift slowly from below where the gap is to reveal the service tag.

An Express Service Code is simply a mathematical conversion of your System Service Tag (SERIAL NUMBER)

into a purely numeric format allowing for easy entry into Dell's automated call-routing system.

Enter this number, using a touch-tone telephone, into the automated call-routing system when contacting Dell for assistance.

Service tag is also on the back a barcoded number with Letters as well as Numbers.
