I have 2 computers in my office that I am trying to connect to a single monitor, mouse, keyboard using a StarTech (Starview) SV231USB KVM switch. The first is a Thinkpad laptop running XP Pro and the other is a Dell Insipron 530 running Vista. The laptop is working perfectly, the desktop is having issues. If I have the switch on for it and boot it up, it comes up fine, everything is working. If I switch to the laptop for a while and then go back to the desktop, the mouse and keyboard are no longer recognized and I need to do a hard boot to bring it back. I called StarTech and they tell me it has to be a Dell issue as the switch is pretty much a USB passthrough device. I've read many good things about this switch, which is why I bought it. Does anybody have any ideas why the Dell loses the mouse and keyboard everytime?
