Memory Unusable

When I boot my computer, I get the following error message on my Inpiron 1501 laptop.

Press to Resume, to Setup, or to Reboot

This occurred about a week ago when I was just waking my computer from hibernation.  If I resume, the computer will continue to boot.  However, most of the memory has become unusable.  When I go to the properties of 'My Computer'  it says

Installed Memory (RAM): 1.0 GB (222 MB usable).

It would  generally say 896 MB usable since 128 is devoted to graphics.

Here are the things that I have tried thus far:

-Upgrading the memory so that it has more, but the usable memory remains at 222 MB

-System restore (no effect)

-I have also updated the system BIOS, and that seemed to work; after doing this, all of the memory was usable again.  I then put my computer into hibernation, and upon waking up again, I was given an error something to the effect of "The system resources have changed since the computer has been turned off" and then am given the above error message, and once again the usable memory went back to 222 MB.

Is there any other ideas on fixing this problem?  I could try re-installing the OS, but since I am currently running Windows 7, doing anything on my system is very demanding and time consuming.

Could it be a motherboard issue?

I can't solve the problem. I think is a motherboard problem with SD card reader device. I will extract SD card reader device, after I post here if had solution.
